SEEING RED : FAVOURITE RED LIPSTICKS

I have my fair share of red lipsticks that I have been hoarding over the years and still keep on adding new ones every now and then.  Red being my favourite colour I tend to gravitate towards it a lot. I don’t normally apply red everyday but any opportunity I get it has to be red lips. Here’s a peek into some of the most used and abused reds which have made it to the favourites list.

L’oreal Collection Star Pure Vermeil by Fan Bing Bing is the most recent additions to the red collection. Not a very intense bold red but a perfect blend of red – pinky coral that adds a pop of colour on your lips and great for everyday wear. Pigmentation and staying power is amazing. ColorBar Take Me As I Am in the shade Mischievous Wine is my most reached out shade. When in doubt this is the shade that I go for - eyes closed because it never ceases to impress me. This deep wine shade lip crayon has an amazing staying power even with meals in between and its pigmentation too is noteworthy. You can read the detailed review here.

Rimmel’s Apocalips in the shade Big Bang is indeed a big bang very intense deep bold red. This is by far the boldest red I own. The doe foot applicator makes application precise and easy. This lip lacquer is a hybrid between a lipstick and a lip gloss; applies like a gloss sets like a lipstick and still manages to maintain the glossiness. Pigmentation is out of this world; it is seriously super pigmented and staying power too is good. The only problem is; it tends to bleed at the edges so you need to fill your lips with a lip liner and then apply the product. When I want to go for a very bold look this is the product that I reach for.

Maybelline Lip Polish in the shade Glam 12 is a more sheer and subtle version of red in my opinion. Don’t be fooled by the sheer pigmentation because once on your lips it sets so well that it gives a much defined look to your lips without that sticky feeling that most glosses leave on lips. Again a classic hybrid of a lip balm, lipstick and lip gloss all benefits in one tube of goodness. You can read the detailed review here.

Lancome L’absolu Rogue is one red that is a dream to apply on the lips. A deep maroon shade which is pigmented and moisturising and feels almost like silk on the lips. One swift application gives a precise deeply pigmented colour payoff. The Packaging is luxurious and sleek with a cool magnetic lid. This is more of an evening wear shade and perfect for functions or events where you don’t want to look over the top but still want a pop of colour. Staying power is very good; you would not need frequent touch ups.

MAC Ruby Woo is an iconic classic red that every woman must have. Bold, edgy and effortless; this deep intense matte red just doesn’t budge from the lips for hours together. The formula might seem a bit powdery and too matte for some but is no bother once it’s on the lips. One of the best red lipsticks one can never go wrong and suits all skin types too.

So to pick a favourite from this lot then it would be MAC Ruby Woo and Colorbar Take Me as I am in the shade Mischievous Wine.
What is your favourite red lipstick that you will rock this Valentine’s Day?
